Where to Stay in Port Severn, Muskoka

7 places to stay in Port Severn, grouped by type, with booking options from our partners.

Port Severn is where the Trent-Severn Waterway meets Georgian Bay, and the last lock of the 386-kilometre system sits right in the village. Watching boats complete the run is a good introduction to the area, and the Big Chute Marine Railway, which carries boats overland between two levels of the Severn River, is a short drive away.

This is the western edge of Muskoka, so the landscape changes: pink granite, wind-shaped pines and the southern end of the Thirty Thousand Islands. Honey Harbour, a few minutes west, is the jumping-off point for Georgian Bay Islands National Park and Beausoleil Island, which are reached by water rather than by road. Stays here are small resorts, cottage resorts and a handful of inns and rentals, most of them on the water or close to it.

It is a quiet, outdoors-first base rather than a town with a busy main street, so plan on driving for meals and supplies. Summer is the season for boating, paddling and island day trips; spring and autumn are quiet and good for shoreline walks, and winter visits need a check on road and marina conditions before you set out.
