MUSKOKA / OUR TOWNS

Gravenhurst

The Gateway to Muskoka is the first lake town you reach heading north on Highway 11. Its revitalized Muskoka Wharf on Lake Muskoka is where the historic steamships still sail from, with a boardwalk, a museum and places to eat all within a short stroll.

A DAY AT YOUR OWN PACE

Steamship heritage & time by the lake

  • Cruise from the Muskoka Wharf aboard the RMS Segwun, North America’s oldest operating steamship, or the larger Wenonah II (seasonal).
  • Explore the Muskoka Discovery Centre for wooden boats, steamship history and its Indigenous culture exhibit.
  • Book afternoon tea at the Blue Willow Tea Shop, looking out over the wharf.
  • Walk the Peninsula Trail and the wharf boardwalk for wide views of Lake Muskoka; heritage panels along the way tell the wharf’s story.
  • See what is playing at the restored Gravenhurst Opera House.
  • After dark, drive 20 minutes to the Torrance Barrens Dark-Sky Preserve for some of the darkest skies near Toronto.

Check seasonal access, hours and reservations before visiting.
