Dorset Snowball Winter Carnival
Dorset's Family Day weekend carnival: a Friday skating party, then a Saturday of parade, pancakes, wagon rides and lumberjack shows. Dates follow the usual annual timing; confirm with the organiser before you travel.
In 2026 the Dorset Snowball ran on the Friday and Saturday of Family Day weekend: a community skating party at the Dorset Ice Palace in Lions Centennial Park on Friday evening, then a pancake breakfast, the Snowball Parade and a full Saturday of horse-drawn wagon rides, cardboard toboggan races, lumberjack shows, chainsaw carving, a birds of prey show and vendors, ending with Hockey Night in Dorset. The 2027 dates shown here follow the same pattern; the Township of Algonquin Highlands publishes the official schedule in the new year.
